What are Dermal Fillers?

Dermal fillers are used to volumize creases and folds in the face in areas that have lost fat and collagen, a natural process of aging. After age 30, we all lose approximately 1% of hyaluronic acid from our bodies. Hyaluronic acid is the natural filler substance in your body. As the face starts to lose volume it begins to appear aged with the appearance of deeper folds.

The most bothersome folds extend from the corner of the nose to the corner of the mouth and marionette lines extend from the corner of the mouth to the jaw line. Filler can treat volume loss in the cheeks that can cause these folds to be more noticable. Fillers can also be used to enhance lips by defining borders, adding volume and correcting asymmetry of the lips. In addition, filler can be the perfect finishing touch after completing cosmetic dental work to create a beautiful, youthful frame around the teeth. Hyaluronic acid fillers such as Juvederm, Voluma, Vollure and Volbella can be injected underneath folds and used to replace lost volume to create a younger look instantly. How do I get started?

Consultations are always complementary and welcomed. Your initial visit will be approximately 45 minutes. The doctor will address your treatment concerns and make a recommendation on the best treatment options for you. In many cases treatment is provided at your initial visit. To prepare for your upcoming appointment click here to complete your new patient forms and understand how to prepare for receiving injectables. Depending on which filler is used, the effect of the filler can typically last anywhere from 6 to 24 months at which point the procedure needs to be repeated. Our doctors recommend patients come back for fillers on a regular schedule to maintain the investment and to continue to look and feel your best. Our offices also participate in Brilliant Distinctions, a free reward program to earn savings on treatments and products. To join click here.

Why have a dentist do your filler?

The biggest advantage dentists have in delivering dermal fillers over any other healthcare professional is the ability to offer complete numbness to the area being treated if a patient prefers. Our dentists use the same anesthesia that is used for dental procedures. Most physicians and nurses can only use topical anesthetic cream or ice on the skin to numb an area. For this reason, many patients prefer a dentist to deliver dermal fillers.

When you want to look your best, you can trust your dentist to perform your filler treatments to smooth wrinkles and make deep lines disappear as well as recreate lost volume. A dentist has the perfect combination of knowledge, experience, and training to complete these quick and effective procedures. By acquiring fillers from your dentist, you can achieve excellent results that help boost the beauty of your gorgeous smile.
Through years of school, training courses, and on the job experience, our dentists hold advanced knowledge about facial anatomy. Dentists understand the anatomy and function of every part of your face from your forehead to your lower jaw, including the extensive facial nerve networks. With this knowledge, our dentists can effectively administer fillers in the correct locations to treat dental conditions and address beauty concerns without worrying about complications.
Our dentists have invested in extensive additional training courses for the administration of Botox and fillers for beauty reasons. These training sessions allow them to learn about the best practices for this treatment process.
