An Implant Dentist Near Me
At Weston Dental, we have the skill and expertise to meet all of your family’s dental needs. We are particularly proud to be known as specialists in dental implants, a procedure that improves the lives of many individuals.
When paired with a crown, dental implants are the next best thing to your natural teeth. Dental implants can take the place of missing, broken, or decayed teeth with an alternative that looks and feels completely natural. They can also serve as an anchor for dentures, ensuring a more secure and natural fit. With dental implants, you will regain confidence you might have lost–the confidence to eat, smile, and laugh again without worry.
Dentist Weston, Ohio
Patients are often concerned about the cost of dental implants, but our dentists in Weston Ohio believe everyone deserves the best tooth replacement options. That’s why we proudly offer the area’s most affordable dental implants as well as monthly implant specials. Weston Dental also works with Medicare/Medicaid and your insurance company to cover the cost of as much of your implant procedure as possible. Finally, we offer special financing options so you don’t have to wait to get the dental implants you need.
How Do Dental Implants Work?
The dental implant process is a surgical procedure. It begins with an initial consultation at which your Weston Dental dentist will perform an examination and ask questions to evaluate your overall health. The consultation will determine whether you are a good candidate for a successful implant procedure. If you are a non-smoker with overall good health, it is likely you will be eligible for dental implants.
Next, you will have a surgical appointment at which time your dentist might have to remove teeth to place your new implants. Dental implants are essentially small screws made usually of titanium. They are placed directly into the jawbone, where they will become part of your permanent jaw structure. Tooth extraction and the placement of your implant(s) can usually be done at the same appointment.
After the placement of the implant(s), you will need time for your mouth to heal and time for the implants to bind to your jawbone. After about a week, patients return to the office for the placement of their crown(s) or denture fitting.
Implants for Better-Fitting Dentures
While some patients choose to have permanent crowns fitted to their dental implants, dental implants can also be used to secure new or existing dentures. Often, patients come to Weston Dental because their dentures are loose, constantly shifting, or have become uncomfortable. We can provide implants that will work with your dentures and relieve these issues. Whereas individual crowns require a separate implant for each tooth, denture implants require fewer–just 2-4 implants to secure an upper or lower denture. Implants greatly improve the quality of life for many denture wearers, eliminating movement, improving chewing, and helping them gain lost confidence in their smile.
Are Dental Implants Painful?
Dental implant surgery is like any other surgery in that there is some pain and discomfort associated with it. Pain during the procedure is managed with professionally administered anesthesia. Together with your Weston Dental dentist, you will choose which type of anesthesia is best for you: a local anesthetic (you will remain completely awake throughout the procedure), conscious sedation (also known as “twilight” sleep) or general anesthesia, in which you are completely unconscious.
Once home, you will most likely be able to manage your discomfort with over-the-counter medications such as ibuprofen (Advil or Motrin) or acetaminophen (Tylenol). Discomfort will usually resolve within a week of your procedure. If your procedure was more extensive, your Weston Dental dentist might prescribe a stronger pain medication. Ice packs placed over the jawbone will also help to alleviate pain.
If you are ready to improve your quality of life with dental implants, Weston Dental is ready to take you through the process. We look forward to giving you the smile you’ve always wanted. Reach out to us today!
